Textured decorative panels to improve aesthetics and acoustics in spaces

By Acoustics, Architecture, Construction, Decoration, Inspiration, News No Comments
The use of textured decorative panels to improve aesthetics and acoustics in spaces is the best example of how technology and aesthetics can go hand-in-hand. Normally, the installation of wood acoustic panels is motivated by the need to provide a room with a sound-absorbent coating that helps control reverberation and, at the same time, add an aesthetic value. The most demanded finishes for acoustic panels are usually those of natural woods or melamines that imitate the appearance of natural wood: they provide warmth, elegance and they are discreet. However, acoustic panels with a melamine finish open the door to the development of a whole world of textured decorative panels in different finishes as original as the imagination allows us and which, in addition, will help us to improve acoustics in spaces. Textured decorative panels with organic textures that remind us of the skins of some animals or of leaves and bark, decorative cladding with textures and geometric drawings (waves, dunes and undulations, rhombuses and pyramids, propellers and circular shapes, etc.) with regular or random repetition patterns, or acoustic panels with artistic textures, watermarks, calligraphies, etc. are just some of the options that this type of finish can offer. Undoubtedly, textured decorative panels with fancy finishes also help control the acoustics of a room. They are the perfect ally for decorators and interior designers who need to offer a touch of originality and exoticism in their project.   . Curved wood slats for spectacular design ceilings

By Acoustics, Architecture, Construction, Decoration, News, Spigogroup wood projects No Comments
Curved wood slats for ceilings? Is it truly possible? In which catalogue can I find them? Many of our clients know that one of the great advantages of working with Spigogroup is that we manufacture of all our materials. This means that we can adjust de design, format, dimensions, quantities and deadlines to the requirements of any architectural or interior design project. Sincerely, we like these ‘à la carte’ jobs that we have to tackle every now and then. They take us out of our routine, they pose challenges and they allow us to learn. This is a good example. The decoration project of a small anonymous entrance hall in Estella, Navarre, which required a wood ceiling made with curved wood slats. On other occasions we have manufactured curved wood ceilings, such as those made for Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, but we did it with wood acoustic panels and now we were asked to do it with curved wood slats. This is the result. Just 20 m² of Spigoline Grid System wood panelling, model 5-15-35-55, with a grid 350 mm wide and 3000 mm long, finished in stained solid obeche wood with standard varnish. The slats were placed on the grid with black rods and the installation was made with attaching clips. Do you like it? Do you need something similar? Tell us about your case. . 5 Advantages of using wood acoustic islands

By Acoustics, Architecture, Construction, Decoration, News, Spigogroup wood projects No Comments
Acoustic islands are formations of acoustic panels mounted on suspension systems and usually located on room ceilings. But, what is the reason behind installing wood acoustic islands? What advantages do they offer? The main reason for installing wood acoustic islands is that they help control reverberation in rooms. Reverberation is the permanence of sound beyond the time required to properly hear and understand a message. Explained in a more technical fashion, “reverberation time ” is the time it takes for the sound to decay by 60 dB as received stood the sound emission source stops. The use of acoustic islands makes it possible to improve the acoustics of a room by assuring the intelligibility of conversations held in it. They are very easy to install. Acoustic islands hang from the original ceiling either with cables or with fixed structures. They do not require complex work and they do not affect the original ceiling, so they have become the most flexible, quick and simple solution for acoustics problems. On walls, acoustic islands are actually called acoustic pictures and they are simply installed by hanging them, just like pictures. The unrivalled elegance and warmth offered by wood makes them the perfect solution for auditoriums, concert halls and common areas in offices and public buildings. Acoustic islands are made of acoustic panels that can be fireproof with the relevant fire certificates. Wide range of sizes and finishes. Acoustic islands offer all the possibilities in sizes and finishes offered by acoustic panels (See Spigotec and Spigoacustic catalogues). However, at Spigoart, the division of Spigogroup devoted to manufacturing acoustic pictures and acoustic islands, there is the possibility of ordering bespoke pieces in the specific sizes and shapes that a project may need. Also, if you prefer, panels can be screen printed with any image you wish. .
