Lighting and wood slat cladding: the case of ISCG Business School

By Architecture, Arquitectura, Decoración, Decoration, Proyectos en Madera Spigogroup, Spigogroup wood projects

Lighting and wood slat cladding are two key elements in the design of new workspaces and educational spaces. This is the case of the project we bring to our blog today. Wood slat cladding, such as that manufactured by Spigoline, not only adds warmth and sophistication, but also transforms the way in which light, both natural and artificial, interacts with the environment. In a classroom, the strategic placement of wood slats tiles on the ceilings allows natural light to be controlled, softening its entry and distributing it evenly to avoid glare or uncomfortable shadows. When there is a lack of natural light, cladding facilitates the integration of artificial lighting through the incorporation of LED lights or recessed lighting systems. This was the case at the new ISCG Paris Business School. The Institut Supérieur de Commerce et de Gestion (ISCG), commissioned Deskeo Space Management SAS the design, renovation and equipping of the new centre, located in a 400-m² dark building in the heart of the 4th arrondissement of the French capital. The challenge was to achieve a bright and welcoming space, perfectly adapted to the pedagogical needs of the school, in a space that lacked windows and natural light. To achieve this, they opted for the installation of approximately 200 m² of Spigoline Grid 3-30-70-90 wood slat cladding on the ceilings, in 3-strip lengths. 000×360 cm, finished in PSM R12354 stain (similar to oak) and autoclave treated. To compensate for the absence of natural light, subtle, wrap-around lighting was designed with LED strips and carefully integrated ceiling lights. The result was, quite simply, spectacular.       . . We manufacture technical doors, custom-made doors and acoustic doors for health centres, offices, shops, hotels and business premises. But we go much further. Spigogroup is a technical carpentry company with more than 40 years’ experience in comprehensive wood decoration projects. Being manufacturers means we are able to carry out any custom-made wood project; this recent one being a good example. This is the technical carpentry work and acoustic doors for the new Villanueva health centre, built by Aransa in Logroño. We manufactured more than one hundred 38 db flush soundproof doors with 6 mm exterior panelling in Formica F1043 compact with a painted ayous wood edge, stainless steel fittings and lift-off hinges, distributed throughout the different rooms. We also manufactured hinged and sliding doors for interiors with the same finish, chrome handle and fittings; and others for exteriors with finishes in Formica F1040 white and Formica F1549 wood. The technical carpentry work was very extensive and included spectacular circular skylight structures in flexible plywood ready for painting on site, as well as panelling for the auditorium, lift entrance areas and the walls on floor 2 of the building, with fireproof finishes in 6 mm Formica white, and others with 6 mm Formica F1549 maple finishes. We also manufactured SJ model cubicles and lockers in compact Polyrey B015 and cabinets in Formica veneer flush with panelling. We used Urban Deck Duo technological decking for benches, and we also manufactured white melamine boxes, Polutrey compact white worktops, approximately 780 linear metres of F1040 compact skirting board, a flexible plywood handrail and ayous wood handrails for stairs.           If you liked this post about acoustic doors for health centres, you may also be interested in: . – Solid wood slat ceilings for the Finanzauto offices in Chiva – Wood lath and slat cladding in new coworking spaces: the case of Coworking Hiptown in Paris – Interior wood cladding at the new Práxedes Mateo Sagasta Secondary School in Logroño – Technical doors for schools – Instituto Práxedes Mateo Sagasta in Logroño

Wood acoustic tiles to create more humane and sustainable spaces

By Acoustics, Acústica, Architecture, Arquitectura, Construcción, Construction, Decoración, Decoration, Proyectos en Madera Spigogroup

The use of wood acoustic tiles is a comprehensive decorative solution that combines functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. This material, increasingly popular in architecture and interior design, has a significant impact on the creation of more human and sustainable spaces, covering key aspects such as acoustics, humanization of the environment, sustainability and positive emotional and environmental impact.   Acoustics: improving sound comfort Wood acoustic tiles or wood acoustic panels are designed for acoustic conditioning and optimization of the sound quality of interior spaces. Its sound-absorbing properties allow reverberation to be controlled, creating quieter and more functional environments that encourage concentration and guarantee good communication. This is especially important in places such as offices, schools, hospitals or auditoriums.   Humanization of spaces Wood, as a natural material, has a unique ability to connect people with nature, contributing to the creation of more welcoming and humane environments. Its texture, warm tone and aesthetic variety generate a feeling of visual and emotional comfort, which contrasts with the coldness of materials such as metal or concrete. In addition, an auditory balanced environment improves social interaction and performance in work or educational activities.     Positive emotional and environmental impact Biophilic design, which seeks to integrate natural elements into built environments, highlights the importance of wood in emotional well-being. Studies have shown that spaces with natural elements reduce stress, improve mood and stimulate creativity.   Sustainability The use of PEFC or FSC certified wood acoustic panels, such as those manufactured by Spigo, encourages responsible practices in forest management. Wood is a renewable resource and its processing generates a low carbon footprint. By choosing wood from sustainable sources, you contribute to the conservation of forests and the reduction of environmental impact.         If you liked this post about wood acoustic tiles, you may also be interested in: . – The aesthetic and optical effect of parallel wood slats – 9 decorative wood wall panels that will add value to your decorative Project – Instructions for the assembly and installation of wall covering consisting of wood slats and PET insulation – Solid wood slat ceilings for the Finanzauto offices in Chiva

Wood lath and slat cladding in new coworking spaces: the case of Coworking Hiptown in Paris

By Architecture, Arquitectura, Decoración, Decoration, Proyectos en Madera Spigogroup, Spigogroup wood projects

Solid wood lath and slat cladding, such as that produced by Spigogroup for its Spigoline and Spigoplank brands, is a popular and successful choice for modern coworking spaces. This natural material contributes warmth, sophistication and an organic touch; features that are increasingly sought in collaborative work environments. Solid wood has a unique ability to convey a sense of proximity and comfort; ideal for offices where a relaxed yet professional atmosphere is desired. In addition, the wood used in Spigoplank decorative wood panels and Spigoline wood slats is a sustainable material, with PEFC and FSC certificates guaranteeing that it comes from sustainably managed forests. This reinforces values such as environmental responsibility and quality, which are particularly appreciated in modern coworking spaces looking to be attractive, functional and aligned with ecological principles. A good example is one of the latest projects in which our Spigoplank and Spigoline brands have been jointly involved. This is Coworking Hiptown, designed by the architectural studio OVGA in the centre of Paris, where they were installed:   Spigoplank 01 decorative wood panels in solid oak, used on the walls of some common areas such as the lift area. The model is very quick and easy to install, with a three-dimensional longitudinal surface in the form of 10-mm-thick wood slats and 10 mm spacing between slats.       Spigoline Grid 6-30-35-30 wood slat cladding in PSM R12354 stain, used in the ceilings of the main working areas. Fully assembled panel with 6 parallel solid ayous wood slats, each slat section 30×35 mm, spaced at 30 mm, joined with beech rods 12 mm diameter, panel open area 48,00 % or greater, panel mass per sqm 7,03 kg/m² or lower”.                 If you liked this post about wood lath and slat cladding, you may also be interested in:   – Acoustic conditioning of homes and the hearing impaired – Performance of flame retardant wood panel cladding when exposed to fire – What are wood removable ceilings? – What are accessible wood ceilings?
