Acoustic MDF boards are acoustic panels manufactured on a base of MDF subsequently modified through drilling and/or grooving, to which a finish and a black sound-absorbent veil are added. MDF or Medium Density Fibreboard is made of wood fibres bonded with synthetic resins and compressed with pressure and heat. The result is very uniform, solid and very durable boards. They are widely used in carpentry and in the manufacture of acoustic panels because, as the fibres are laid out randomly, they can be cut in any direction, offering final surfaces that are very smooth to the touch. Spigoacustic and Spigotec acoustic panels are manufactured using standard MDF backing boards or special MDF backing boards with fire retardant treatment to improve their fire performance or with water-repellent treatment to increase their resistance to humidity. Subsequently, square, slotted/oblong, circular or micro-perforated perforations are made. These determine the degree of sound absorption of each model. Another advantage of using MDF boards in the manufacture of acoustic panels is that they allow the application of different types of finishes. Spigoacustic and Spigotec models can be finished in melamine, varnished natural wood, lacquer and high-density veneer. Acoustic panels made of MDF board are used for the acoustic conditioning of spaces, by controlling reverberation, helping to achieve the acoustic comfort required in a project.
