Lighting and wood slat cladding: the case of ISCG Business School

By Architecture, Arquitectura, Decoración, Decoration, Proyectos en Madera Spigogroup, Spigogroup wood projects

Lighting and wood slat cladding are two key elements in the design of new workspaces and educational spaces. This is the case of the project we bring to our blog today. Wood slat cladding, such as that manufactured by Spigoline, not only adds warmth and sophistication, but also transforms the way in which light, both natural and artificial, interacts with the environment. In a classroom, the strategic placement of wood slats tiles on the ceilings allows natural light to be controlled, softening its entry and distributing it evenly to avoid glare or uncomfortable shadows. When there is a lack of natural light, cladding facilitates the integration of artificial lighting through the incorporation of LED lights or recessed lighting systems. This was the case at the new ISCG Paris Business School. The Institut Supérieur de Commerce et de Gestion (ISCG), commissioned Deskeo Space Management SAS the design, renovation and equipping of the new centre, located in a 400-m² dark building in the heart of the 4th arrondissement of the French capital. The challenge was to achieve a bright and welcoming space, perfectly adapted to the pedagogical needs of the school, in a space that lacked windows and natural light. To achieve this, they opted for the installation of approximately 200 m² of Spigoline Grid 3-30-70-90 wood slat cladding on the ceilings, in 3-strip lengths. 000×360 cm, finished in PSM R12354 stain (similar to oak) and autoclave treated. To compensate for the absence of natural light, subtle, wrap-around lighting was designed with LED strips and carefully integrated ceiling lights. The result was, quite simply, spectacular.       . . Spigoacustic families: wood sound-absorbent panels options

By Acústica, Architecture, Arquitectura, Construcción, Decoración, Decoration

Spigoacustic is Spigo’s range of wood acoustic absorption panels, made up of linear sound-absorbent panels or acoustic panels designed to offer an optimum acoustic performance. Spigoacustic sound-absorbing panels decorate walls and ceilings of all types of premises: auditoriums, hotel halls, exhibition halls, university classrooms, hospital waiting rooms, dining rooms, board and meeting rooms, professional offices, etc. There are about 29 models of Spigoacustic acoustic panels. The technical nomenclature of each model includes three numbers, which correspond to three measurements in millimetres. The first is the width of the groove on the visible side. The second is the distance between perforations on the hidden side of the panel. And the third is the distance between grooves on the visible side.   Based on the visible channel width, the Spigoacustic catalogue of wood sound-absorbent panels is divided into four families:   • Model Plain: Model plain View model • Models with 2 mm channel: 10 panels with various combinations of the distance between perforations (16 or 32 mm, or without perforations) and distances between grooves of 8, 16, 32, or 64 mm. View models  Models with 2,8 mm channel: 9 panels with various combinations of the distance between perforations (16 or 32 mm, or without perforations) and distances between grooves of 16, 32, or 64 mm. View models • Models with 4,2 mm channel: another 9 panels with the same combinations as the 2.8 mm channel width family. Thin Wood Slat Cladding Options

By Acoustics, Acústica, Decoración, Decoration

Thin wood slat cladding are an excellent option to transform any space, providing texture, warmth and a natural touch to the decoration. Their versatility allows them to be used on walls and ceilings, creating cozy environments with personality. Whether highlighting a specific area or achieving a uniform aesthetic, these thin slats offer endless possibilities. Spigo has the Spigoline brand dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of thin wood slat cladding. The Spigoline catalog has four types of decorative wood slat boards: the GRID system, the SOLID system, the LINEAR system and the PET system. In each of the systems we find different options for thin wood slats cladding designed to offer great versatility and can be installed in both a vertical and horizontal position, on walls or ceilings.   The Spigoline GRID System consists of panels of solid wood slats, with square or rectangular sections, placed parallel to each other, joined by means of black wooden rods 12 mm in diameter. The GRID system offers thin wood slat cladding with slat thicknesses or widths of 10, 15, 20, or 30 mm, and especially up to a thickness of 40 mm. SEE SHEETS. The Spigoline SOLID System consists of a plywood board, with oblong or circular perforations, with solid wood slats of square or rectangular sections, 20 mm thick, placed parallel to each other. SEE SHEETS. The Spigoline LINER System, consists of rectangular ayous wood slats placed in parallel and joined together at one end by means of a black painted ayous wood crossbeam and offers thin wood slat coverings of 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 mm in vertical position and 70 or 100 mm in horizontal position. SEE SHEETS. Finally, the Spigoline PET system combines parallel solid wood slats with a high-performance thermo-acoustic rear filter, offering decorative wood slats with slat widths of 30, 35 and 70 mm depending on model.
