Wood in shop decoration: the Mikonos case

By Architecture, Construction, Decoration, News, Spigogroup wood projects No Comments
The use of wood in shop decoration is one of the most popular choices in retail interior design in recent years. Wood can be seen in any type of project, from the most classical and serious to the most modern and casual. It is elegant, warm and very versatile, as it has hundreds of formats and finishes, and can be used in the design of any part of a shop. Mikonos, the multi-brand firm from La Rioja, recently opened their new fashion space on Gran Vía in Logroño. After more than 30 years as trend makers in the application of design and innovation in commerce, the brothers Manuel, Marian and Daniel Niño decided to renew their commitment with new 155 m² premises in the heart of the city. They belong to that set of exceptional Spanish business people who are facing these moments of uncertainty with entrepreneurial spirit, courage, intelligence and a lot of passion. They entrusted the project to the interior designer Jesús Lozano, and commissioned Spigogroup to design and carry out all the woodwork. The project installed a natural oak wood floor with matte varnish and wood cladding in various parts of the shop. The display furniture, shelves, shoe racks, coat racks, counters, dressing rooms and the TV stand were all custom built. In addition, Spigogroup supplied the wood doors and manufactured the skirting boards and marble finishes. Below you can see the spectacular final result. Models and finishes in smooth wood panels and cladding

By Acoustics, Architecture, Construction, Decoration, News No Comments
In decorative acoustics, smooth wood panels and cladding refer to surfaces that do not have square, grooved/oblong, circular or micro-perforated holes, typical of sound-absorbent panels or wood acoustic panels. Although they offer a minimum capacity to absorb sound, smooth wood panels and cladding do play a balancing role within a comprehensive acoustic conditioning project. Sometimes, from an acoustic point of view, it is not necessary to cover the entire walls or ceiling of a room with acoustic panels. However, the aesthetics of the project may require us to complete the interior cladding with the same type of wood and finish, and we can do this with the smooth versions of the chosen cladding. At other times, we simply do not look for acoustic improvement, only an aesthetic solution, and it is sufficient to go for the smooth models of the chosen wood panelling. Spigogroup has two smooth wood panel options:   The Spigoacustic Liso model comes with finishes in melamine, natural wood, RAL/NSC or HPL lacquer, on standard, water-repellent and fire-resistant MDF cores, in 1200 x 300 and 2400 x 300 mm sizes It can be installed with T-15 hidden profile systems, T15 or T24 semi-visible profiles, T24 hidden profiles with fixing clip, Omega system + clip, wood strip + clip and wood strip without clip. The Spigotec Liso model offers the same finish and core options, in 600 x 600, 1200 x 600, 1200 x 300, 2400 x 300 and 2400 x 600 mm sizes, and installation systems with exposed profile, T-24 hidden profile, T-15 fineline profile, T-15 semi-open profile and T-24 or dovetailed.     If you liked this post about smooth wood panels and cladding, you may also be interested in:   - Colour interior panelling, what does each colour mean? - The wood of Spigoplank decorative panels for walls and ceilings - Veneer and technical doors at the new Logroño Nursing School - ACAE PRESTO and FIEBDC acoustic panels catalogue

6 questions about decorative wood accessible ceilings

By Acoustics, Architecture, Construction, Decoration, News No Comments
Decorative wood accessible ceilings are the perfect example of a technical solution with a superior aesthetic value. They are used in offices, consulting rooms, waiting rooms and any other point in a building where we need to lower the height of the ceiling, improve the acoustics and, at the same time, distinguish ourselves by a warm and elegant visual result. Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about decorative wood accessible ceilings.   What are accessible ceilings? Accessible ceilings are installed employing a grid system that offers a space between the false ceiling and the original ceiling (plenum), allowing quick access and replacement of single tiles without having to dismantle the entire ceiling. This last advantage is the key feature of this type of ceiling. What does a decorative accessible ceiling add to the look of a room? Decorative accessible ceilings play a key role in the décor and features of any space. That is the reason why the chosen hue or finish, the type of installation, the shapes and models of ceiling tiles or the acoustic performance required of decorative ceilings condition the final choice. All these aspects also affect the luminosity, visual environment and sound clarity of the room. What other advantages does a decorative accessible ceiling offer? When the tiles used in accessible ceilings are acoustic panels you can fine tune the acoustic absorption capacity of the ceiling by replacing some tiles with others that offer greater or lesser sound absorption. Accessible ceilings also hide water piping, air ducts, electrical, electronic and safety wiring systems. What are the available options for accessible ceiling panels? In the case of acoustic false ceilings such as those offered by Spigotec, we can choose from among more than 40 different models, each one, with its design formed by square, slotted/oblong, circular or micro perforations, with different degrees of acoustic absorption, with the possibility of opting for fireproof or water-repellent substrates, and each of them with finish options in melamine, natural wood, through-dyed MDF, lacquer or HPL. Are lead times different depending on the finish chosen? Yes. Melamine finishes in stock have an approximate manufacturing lead time of 10-15 days from the date the order effective. If you want melamines that are out of stock the lead time may be extended by 6-7 weeks. For natural wood and lacquered finishes, approximate lead times are 3-4 weeks. If we talk about finishes in high density laminate (HPL) the manufacturing time is 4-5 weeks. For through-dyed MDF you will need to check with us, as lead times can vary greatly. (Indicative times. Actual lead times will be given when order becomes effective.) And do the new smart offices also use these ceilings? Accessible ceilings for smart offices are already a reality and the massive sensorization of work centres and the use of big data will soon become the main players in the development of Smart Buildings. Accessible ceilings for smart offices will house a large part of the sensors and data collection systems that will be used in smart buildings, whose facilities and systems (air conditioning, lighting, electricity, telecommunications, multimedia, IT, access control, etc.) allow for integrated and automated management and control, with the aim of improving the energy efficiency, safety, usability and accessibility of the building.     If you liked this post about decorative wood accessible ceilings, you may also be interested in: - 8 Spaces where sound-absorbent wood tiles should be used - Colour interior panelling, what does each colour mean? - Benefits of natural wood acoustic tiles for walls and ceilings - 5 Reasons to install Spigoline solid wood slats
