What can be more satisfying for a technical carpentry than being asked to participate in the building works of the Rioja Culture Centre? We are a technical carpentry working all over the world - in universities, museums, public buildings, wineries and headquarters of major companies. We supply wood acoustic panels for the acoustic conditioning of architectural spaces and custom wood panelling for ceilings and walls. We also supply building projects with technical doors, phenolic booths and phenolic lockers and customised wood furniture. When we had the opportunity to participate as a technical carpentry in the building work of the Rioja Culture Centre in Logroño´s Old Town, we felt that it was an opportunity to make a humble contribution to this tribute to wine and and what it represents for this land in which we live. A few months ago the Rioja Culture Centre opened its doors to the public. It is the work of Jesús Marino Pascual —probably the most influential Riojan architect of recent times and a loyal friend of Spigogroup— and it covers more than 3,000 m² spread over 4 floors. As technical carpentry, we did work on the outside (doors, entrance, windows...), the entrance hall and central courtyard, museum and exhibition, winebar, wine shop, tasting room, training rooms and some multi-purpose rooms. These is some of the work we did: . - Technical carpentry work on doors: Smooth solid doors, E1260-CS FR doors with oak veneer and varnished, oak panelled doors. - Technical carpentry for finishing and cladding: oak wood panelling, wood panelling on walls with oak wood planks on studs, wood panelling on walls with Spigotec panels, with varnished oak veneer covered with lacquered Spigoacustic 28-32-16 MDF flame retardant panels. - Other works of technical carpentry: Corner, ´flying-arch´ window and balcony made of oak wood, panelled stairs in solid oak, and technical carpentry work, furniture, counter and shop flooring. . One of our most recent wood projects is the technical carpentry work carried out in one of the newest Logroño catering establishments. The wood projects which we can carry out at a technical carpentry such as ours are innumerable. We have worked in construction and wood projects in new wineries, technology centres, universities, museums, corporate headquarters, schools, residences, and also in the new temples of Spanish and Riojan cuisine, ready to reach for the stars; bars, gastropubs and restaurants which are gradually populating the streets of our cities to the delight of locals and visitors alike. This time the technical carpentry work was made for a new hospitality proposal which opened this year in the heart of the capital of La Rioja. This is Cu4tro, which recently opened its doors at the west end of the Plaza del Espolón. It is the fourth member of a family of iconic Logroño establishments, the other three being Cakao, Canela and Crema, all of which are located in the centre of Logroño. We took care of the technical carpentry work of the project, and this includes the smooth, lacquered, sliding doors, the varnished, oak wood tables, the wood panelling made of solid oak planks on the walls and various pieces of furniture. All of this made to measure according to the requirements of the project management. . We constantly look for interesting examples of structures and wood ceilings and we now focus on the architect Peter Zumthor. Zumthor is a well-known Swiss architect. Born in 1943, he received the Pritzker Prize in 2009. He was a cabinet maker before he became an architect. That is why the use of wood in the structures of buildings, with wood slats on the walls and wood ceilings characterises some of his first and most emblematic works. . - Saint Benedict Chapel, in Sumvitg in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland: The wood ceilings in this Chapel, supported by a ring of vertical wood columns are truly spectacular. A great example of simplicity and beauty of the most craftsmanlike Zumthor. It was the year 1989. In this work of 2007, located in Mechernich (Germany), Zumthor used a formwork of wood logs arranged in the manner of a teepee, which he then overlaid with concrete. He then burned the trunks leaving their mark on the texture of the concrete. The structure, interiors and wood ceilings result in a very special building designed to remember the execution of 91 people for witchcraft in the 17th century. The use of accessible ceilings offers the possibility of improving the acoustic conditioning of rooms and spaces with acoustic issues. Accessible ceilings made of wood panels are commonly used in offices, shops or catering establishments for their installation speed and flexibility, the wide range of available finishes and because they are the best solution to hide plumbing, electricity, domotics, or air conditioning. Accessible ceilings manufactured with wood also offer an important added value in terms of fire safety when installing panels with fire-retardant properties (B-s2, d0), complying with the UNE-EN ISO 1350-1 standard. But accessible ceilings which are made of wood are also one of the top choices when undertaking the acoustic conditioning of a room. In fact, ceilings are one of the main elements when it comes to controlling annoying acoustic effects like reverberation. Reverberation is the permanence of sound beyond the time required to properly hear and understand a message. This unpleasant effect occurs often in spacious rooms, like dining rooms, auditoriums, multi-purpose rooms, offices and meeting rooms. The installation of accessible ceilings with acoustic panels made of sound-absorbent wood allows you to control this effect and ensure perfect acoustics. In addition, accessible ceilings make it possible to place and remove panels quickly and easily wherever work needs to be carried out on the ceiling. This feature of accessible ceilings is a great help when access is required to a specific point in an installation for replacement or repairs. It also offers advantages in the acoustic conditioning of a room. It makes it possible to easily replace acoustic panels with others having different levels of acoustic absorption when undertaking renovations in order to adapt the space to a different use. .
